The sport, of archery is considered one of the oldest traditions. The earliest people known to have used the bow and arrow were the ancient Egyptians, who adopted the weapon at least 5000 years ago. Varied History of Archery
Archery is a sport or practice of using a bow to shoot arrows. Throughout history archery was used for many purposes including hunting and combat. It now has mainly become a sport of precision. Some history on archery is that it was said to have begun around 15,000 years ago, but the earliest that proven evidence was reported on archery was between 8,000 and 9,000 years ago. The bow is said to have originally come from the use of hunting animals, and then it became a very useful tool in combat and warfare. It became the dominant means of shooting projectiles after replacing the “atlatl”. Some of the histories of Archery include Classical, Medieval and Asian Archery. History of Bow hunting
The bow was man’s chief weapon down through the ages until the invention of firearms. With the bow, man hunted for food and protected himself from his enemies. The great military nations of the past gained their ascendency through the ability of their archers. Over eight hundred years ago the Mongol horde was turned back into Asia by the long bow. With the advent of firearms, the use of the bow in English warfare rapidly declined, although archery was enjoyed widely as a sport during the middle ages. Archery Arrows
Archery arrows are the single most important thing, besides the bow itself. Without a good arrow, your aim will always be off, and you will constantly have to compensate to aim properly. There are several different archery arrows, and all of them have different purposes. The stiffness of the spine (the stiffness of the shaft of the arrow) will effect how much the arrow wobbles after being shot from the bow. Archery Arrows
