Varied History of Archery
Archery is a sport or practice of using a bow to shoot arrows. Throughout history archery was used for many purposes including hunting and combat. It now has mainly become a sport of precision. Some history on archery is that it was said to have begun around 15,000 years ago, but the earliest that proven evidence was reported on archery was between 8,000 and 9,000 years ago. The bow is said to have originally come from the use of hunting animals, and then it became a very useful tool in combat and warfare. It became the dominant means of shooting projectiles after replacing the “atlatl”. Some of the histories of Archery include Classical, Medieval and Asian Archery. Evolution of Archery
The equipment used in archery has improved significantly since medieval times. While primitive bows were not very accurate, today’s bows can accurately launch arrows at speeds over 148 miles (240 kilometers) per hour. Today’s bows are a combination of wood, fiberglass, lightweight metals, and high-technology materials. Historically from early childhood children were provided with bows according to their height and are taught to shoot. Today archery thrives as a competitive sport. Tips to Accurate Archery Shooting
The first thing you want to do to maintain accurate archery shooting is to periodically check your bow for proper tuning and your arrows for proper flight. You also want to make sure you number your arrows, so if one of your arrows is consistently out of your normal grouping you can easily determine if it is the same arrow every time.
